Rolf Goffman Martin Lang LLPThe Ohio Nurse Aide Registry identifies individuals who are barred from working in nursing homes due to documented cases of abuse, neglect or misappropriation of property against residents.

Although the majority of individuals identified on the registry are nurse aides, the registry also maintains a record of any other unlicensed employee who is found to have abused/neglected/misappropriated from a resident. This includes business office managers, housekeepers, maintenance personnel, etc.

Therefore, as part of screening/background check procedures, facilities should search the nurse aide registry for all new hires, and not just those who are being hired for a nurse aide position.
